THE ART OF SEEING
PURPOSE : TO PRACTICE THE ART OF SEEING
1. Select a Location
2. Define your "Studio"
Place one foot on the ground.
Be mindful of this as once your foot is positioned, you are committed.
For the duration of this assignment your foot anchors or rotates on this exact spot.
The geometric body-length sphere around your anchor foot, defines your studio.
3. Image Capture
Take 10 photos, no more, no less,
Each release of the shutter counts as one image towards your collection. Compose full frame.
Each one should differ significantly from the others.
I choose my studio as the "MINTON TILES ARCADE".
Located under the Bethesda Terrace, Central Park in New York.
The Bethesda Arcade has an iconic ceiling that's been line by 49 large panels of Minton Tiles.
The architecture is very ideal for string instruments and singing due to the design of the arcade.
There are often musicians playing inside the arcade so I was also able to take a photo today.
The tiles can be photographed no matter what the lighting condition may be outside because of the dim yellow lighting on the ceiling.

REFLECTION
Actually, I started this assignment 4 days ago. However, I was a little surprised and shocked at the first try.
I couldn't take more than 3-4 cuts. Most people, including me,
Walk through a large area and search for a favorite scene.
But, in this condition (my foot anchored on this exact spot), it was very limited.
I thought this assignment was a bit easy but I realized that my view angles are very narrow. Since the past few days, I have taken hundreds of photos and practiced tirelessly but this ability is unlikely to be upgraded easily.
Maybe, I will have to practice for a long time in the future. But, of course I am willing to do so. Weekly assignments make me mature with new experiences. I think about when can I take a photo that I can enjoy hanging on the wall everyday...
